SSU exposes businessman who offered UAH 1.5 mln bribe to StateGeoCadastre leadership for ‘resolving’ court dispute

The SSU cyber security units jointly with the NABU exposed a head of a Kyiv company on offering a bribe to the leadership of the State Service of Ukraine for Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre and the state enterprise ‘State Land Cadastre Center’.

For UAH 1.5 mln, the businessman asked the officials to agree to accept low-quality computer equipment that he provided them with.

The company head insisted that the government agencies sign acceptance certificates despite the fact that he had supplied them with the wrong server equipment, not the one agreed in the tender.

In this way, the businessperson wanted to illegally receive UAH 38 mln, as stipulated in the tender.

However, as the SSU officers found out, the company supplied equipment that did not meet the stated requirements and its cost was overestimated.

The officials of the StateGeoCadastre refused to sign the reporting documentation, for which the businessman sued them.

Later, he offered the leadership of the state agency to resolve the issue not in court, but for money.

The law enforcement documented the individual’s unlawful activities and exposed him on an attempt to bribe the officials.

The company director was notified of suspicion under the Article 369-2.1 of the CCU (abuse of influence). Court is to choose a measure of restraint.

The SSU and the NABU carried out the operational and investigative activities under the supervision of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.
