SSU detains dealers in Dnipro trying to sell combat aircraft components to ruscists

The SSU has prevented a sale of aircraft parts stolen from a Ukrainian enterprise to russia.

These are starter generators and aircraft pumps with spare parts for MiG-29 multi-purpose fighters worth over UAH 10 mln (USD 268,000).

According to the investigation, a criminal from Dnipro, who had stolen the equipment from the manufacturer’s warehouse in 2019, is involved in the attempt to sell the items.

The criminal had given the military products to a businessman he knew for ‘storage’ and further sale.

For a long time, the businessman had been hiding the aircraft components in his service station.

Later, in order to sell them, he placed an advertisement on a specialized website.

Representatives of the russian military-industrial complex, looking for such spare parts for the enemy combat aircraft, became interested in the ad.

The SSU documented the unlawful activity and blocked the sale of the equipment to the occupiers.

During the searches of the suspect’s service station, the SSU seized:

  • 10 aircraft pumps;
  • 2 starter generators;
  • 1,000 additional components.

Criminal proceedings were opened under Article 209.3 of the CCU – laundering of proceeds of crime, committed by an organized group on a particularly large scale. The investigation is underway.

The offenders face up to 12 years in prison.

The SSU-initiated examination of the aircraft equipment confirmed that it can be used in combat conditions.

The court decided to hand over the items in question to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The investigation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
