SSU exposes two agitators who praised ruscists: former mayor from Chernihiv region among detainees

As a result of counter-sabotage efforts in the northern regions of Ukraine, the SSU detained another two enemy accomplices.

In social networks, the offenders massively spread calls for support of russian occupiers and justified their war crimes.

One of the enemy agitators is a former mayor of a district center in Chernihiv region, who was convicted of bribery.

According to the SSU Counterintelligence, on the eve of the full-scale invasion he was released from a penitentiary facility, where he had served a sentence for the crime.

During the occupation of the region, the ex-mayor decided to show the invaders his readiness to cooperate.

To do this, he began to disseminate posts on the Internet, in which he discredited the Defence Forces and popularized the terrorist organizations ‘L/DNR’.

After the liberation of the oblast, the offender hoped to evade justice, but the SSU detained him.

The detainee has been served a notice of suspicion under the Article 436-2 of the CCU (justification, recognition as lawful, denial of russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).

Another enemy propagandist is a woman from Kyiv who publicly called for seizure of state power and praised the kremlin’s regime.

She also justified russian air strikes on Ukrainian cities, which resulted in civilian deaths and injuries.

The offender spread destructive content from her own account in the banned social network Vkontakte.

The SSU cyber specialists documented her subversive activities and detained her.

Based on the collected evidence, SSU investigators notified the detainee of suspicion under three Articles of the CCU:

  • 109.2 (public calls for forceful change or overthrow of the constitutional order or seizure of state power, distribution of materials calling for such actions);
  • 110.1 (encroachment on Ukraine’s territorial integrity and inviolability);
  • 436-2.3 (justification, recognition as lawful, denial of russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).

The court chose custody as a measure of restraint for both suspects. The investigation is ongoing.

The SSU carried out the operational and investigative activities under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office and Chernihiv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
