SSU detains two informants in Kharkiv region who reconnoitered Ukrainian defence lines on border with russia

As a result of a special operation in the liberated districts of Kharkiv oblast, the SSU Counterintelligence neutralized a group of informants working for the russian FSB.

The traitors are two residents of de-occupied Vovchansk, whom the enemy involved in reconnaissance and sabotage activity.

The informants collected intelligence on locations and movements of the Defence Forces on the territory of Vovchansk community.

They were primarily looking for information on equipment of defence lines along the border with russia and temporary deployment points of the SSU and the National Police.

The aggressor was also interested in the current socio-political situation in the border region and sites where humanitarian aid is distributed to civilians.

Occupiers needed these data to prepare sabotage and launch missile and artillery attacks on Ukrainian targets.

According to the investigation, one of the informants is a local resident who voluntarily cooperated with the aggressor immediately after the occupation of part of the oblast.

The man started performing enemy reconnaissance assignments only in early 2023.

Subsequently, he involved his acquaintance and put her in direct contact with the FSB.

Telegram messenger was used for communication with the russian special service.

During the searches of the suspects’ homes, the SSU found the mobile phones that the agents used to pass intelligence to the FSB.

Based on the collected evidence, SSU investigators served the detained informants notices of suspicion.

The court chose custody without a right to bail as a measure of restraint. The investigation is ongoing.

The SSU Office in Kharkiv region carried out the operation under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
