SSU exposes pharmaceutical company from Zhytomyr region on selling medicines to russian army
In Zhytomyr region, the SSU exposed a pharmaceutical company on cooperation with ruscists.
After the full-scale invasion, the criminals set up a ‘hidden’ scheme of supplying Ukrainian medicines to russian military hospitals.
Among the main illegal exports were painkillers, which the enemy used to treat wounded invaders in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine.
The director of a pharmaceutical company in the region was involved in organizing the scheme.
Until February 2022, the company exported its products to russia. The business partner of the Ukrainian entity in russia was an institution that fulfils government orders of the russian ministry of defence.
After the launch of the full-scale invasion and introduction of sanctions against the kremlin, the company’s management developed a mechanism to circumvent the restrictions.
To do this, the organizer and his russian accomplices involved several controlled commercial entities in the Middle East and the EU.
At first, they sent Ukrainian medicines to the addresses of these foreign companies and then changed the consignment notes and transported the products to actual russian customers.
The SSU documented an attempt to smuggle almost 300 kg of medicines to the aggressor state.
During the searches of the offices and production facilities of the Ukrainian pharmaceutical company, the SSU found:
- computers with evidence of the crime;
- a contract with the actual russian buyer;
- russian certificates of conformity for the medications.
The director of the Ukrainian company has been served a notice of suspicion under Article 111-2.1 of the CCU (aiding the aggressor state). The court is to decide on a measure of restraint.
The investigation is underway. The offender is facing up to 12 years in prison.
The operation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
