SBU exposes Chairman of Bank Management Board on misinforming National Bank

SBU Cyber specialists documented the illegal activities of the Chairman of Bank Management Board and the Chief Accountant of a bank. To conceal the insolvency of the institution, they falsified financial documents in reports to the National Bank.

SBU operatives established that the organizers submitted false data in order to obtain credit funds from the National Bank under the refinancing program. During 2018-2020, they repeatedly entered misleading information into the financial statements on the bank’s rights to food production complex.

The book value of the complex is UAH 277 m. (USD 9.9 m.), which is 13.7% of the bank's total assets. After receiving inaccurate data, the National Bank refinanced UAH 7 m. (USD 250,000) and allocated UAH 50 m. (USD 1.7 m.) in overnight loans to support its liquidity.

Due to illegal actions, the bank was declared insolvent. The Individual Deposit Guarantee Fund temporary administrates the institution. The exact amount of state losses is being estimated in the further pre-trial investigation.

Currently, the Chairman of Bank Management Board and the Chief Accountant received suspicion notices of committing criminal offence by a group of persons upon prior conspiracy; concealment of lasting financial insolvency.

A pre-trial investigation is underway.

The operation was carried out jointly with investigators of the Main National Police Department in Kyiv city under the supervision of Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
