The SBU documented extortion by the head of a state enterprise that is part of the National Academy of Sciences.

Allegedly, the offender demanded USD 200,000 from a director of the commercial entity. For this, he guaranteed the businessman assistance in concluding an investment contract with the subsequent transfer of a land plot for permanent use. The land plot is located in Kyiv region. The total area is 0.41 hectares.

The SBU officers detained an accomplice of the official in Kyiv after receiving the first part of bribe under Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedural Code of Ukraine.

The head of the state enterprise and his accomplice received notices of suspicion of excess of authority or official power.

The investigation is ongoing.

The operation was conducted jointly with the Main Investigation Directorate of the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General's Office.
