The SBU military counterintelligence detained the head of a regional branch of one of Ukraine's defense concerns for bribery. For USD 1 m, the suspect promised to illegally transfer a highly liquid land plot in the downtown of Odesa to the ownership of regional business entities.

The head of the branch was caught red-handed while receiving the first part of the illegal benefit in the amount of USD 40,000.

The detainee received the suspicion notice of taking a bribe. The Kyiv District Court of Odesa city chose custody as a type of detention with the possibility of bail in the amount of UAH 20 m (USD 715,000).

The operation was conducted by the SBU Department for Military Counterintelligence under the supervision of Odesa Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Military and Defense Sphere. The pre-trial investigation is carried out by the Main Investigative Department of the National Police in Odesa region.
