SSU exposes chiefs of National Guard training centre who groundlessly received UAH 1 mln of ‘combat pay’
The SSU Military Counterintelligence jointly with the SBI and with the assistance of the National Guard’s new leadership have shut down a corruption scheme at one of the training centres.
Officials of the facility unjustly ‘rewarded’ themselves and their subordinates with a monthly supplement of UAH 100,000, which is given for direct participation in warfare against russian occupiers.
However, these servicemen were not in the area of combat operations and did not perform any missions on the front line.
From September to December 2022, the fraudsters illegally received a total amount of almost UAH 1 mln (USD 27,000) from the state.
According to the investigation, the head of a National Guard training centre organized the scheme.
This official signed the documents to appoint payment of combat bonuses to his subordinates, including three senior officers.
The SSU-initiated examination confirmed that the servicemen involved had caused losses to the state budget.
Based on the evidence, the head of the training institution has been served a notice of suspicion under Article 425.4 of the CCU (negligence in relation to military service).
Three of his subordinates were notified of suspicion under Article 364.2 of the CCU (abuse of power or official position).
Court is to decide on measures of restraint for the suspects, who are facing up to 8 years in prison.
The investigation is underway.
The operational and investigative activities were carried out jointly with the State Bureau of Investigations under the procedural supervision of Darnytsia Specialized Defence Prosecutor’s Office of the Central Region.
