SBU exposes former “LNR” militant among National Police officers
The Security Service of Ukraine exposed a former militant of the pro-Russian separatist forces "Army of the South-East" among the officers of the Luhansk Region National Police.
The operation was carried out in cooperation with the internal security unit of the National Police and with the assistance of the Luhansk Region National Police.
According to the SBU, the suspect joined the National Police in 2016.
Prior to that, starting in 2014, the suspect served in the illegal armed formation commanded by Dryomov, which controlled the city of Sievierodonetsk at that time. As soon as the Ukrainian Army liberated the city and the militants retreated into the separatist-held territories, he decided to change sides. He was hiding in Russia and in the temporarily annexed Crimea, and then returned to Ukraine.
It is known that the suspect was engaged in pass control and took duties at combat posts of terrorist groups.
The perpetrator was also enlisted in reconnaissance division headed by the citizen of Russia with a call sign "Spets". The battalion was involved in the abductions and tortures of Ukrainian patriots, killings of Ukrainian Army servicemen in hostilities near Rubizhne and in the Novoaidar district.
The offender received the suspicion notice of participation in unlawful armed formations. The type of detention is to be chosen. His involvement in other crimes is being investigated.
The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of the Luhansk Regional Prosecutor's Office.
