In Transcarpathia, the SSU exposed another scheme of selling fake COVID vaccination certificates. A local doctor, who on social media campaigned for vaccination, in real life made money by faking COVID certificates.

The offender worked as an infectious diseases physician at the Public Health Center of Zakarpattia Regional Council. She involved an acquaintance in the scheme to look for clients. The accomplice got 30% of the proceeds.

For UAH 3,500 (USD 124), the doctor entered false information on vaccinations into the eHealth system. The medic also issued paper COVID vaccination certificates to ‘patients’ without actual vaccination. In this way, she counterfeited about 100 medical documents a month.

Both perpetrators have been notified of suspicion of fraud (Article 190.3 of the CCU). The court is to choose measures of restraint.

The investigation is underway to establish all the circumstances of illegal activity, identify and prosecute all those involved.

The SSU Office in Zakarpattia region carried out the operation together with the National Police investigators under the supervision of Zakarpattia Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
