SSU exposes large scale corruption in agricultural equipment registration
SSU exposed an enterprise of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection on large scale receiving bribes for entering false data on technical condition of agricultural equipment into the State Register.
Allegedly, the offenders received illegal profit worth UAH 30 m (USD 1 m).
The SSU documented that the high-ranking officials were involved in extortion of bribes from agricultural entrepreneurs for the issuance of certificates on technical condition of agricultural equipment. In addition, they entered false data into the Unified Register.
The offenders involved a representative of an affiliated company in bribery.
The SSU detained one of the managers of the state enterprise and his accomplice red-handed while receiving UAH 210,000 (USD 8,000) of bribe for issuing and registering of 700 certificates.
The issue of serving a suspicion notice and choosing a type of detention is being resolved.
The investigation into unauthorized actions with information and bribery is ongoing.
The operation was carried out by the SSU Main Directorate of Counterintelligence Protection of the State Interests in the Field of Information Security jointly with the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv under the supervision of the Pechersk District Prosecutor`s Office.
