SBU cyber specialists blocked misappropriation of the budget funds allocated for guarding of the facilities of municipal enterprise Kyivpastrans. Illegal activity caused budget losses amounting to UAH 3.5 m. (USD 129,630).

The SBU established that the officials of public utility have concluded a contract with a private company. According to its terms, the guards had to ensure round-the-clock physical protection of transport facilities during 2019-2020.

However, SBU officers documented that the guards were not actually present at several transport facilities, including tram depots, etc.
Management of the company misappropriated the allocated funds instead.

Within the criminal proceedings, the SBU initiated a forensic accounting examination. Experts confirmed the illegal activities and established the damage to the city budget.

Currently, a director of the company received a suspicion notice of embezzlement, misappropriation or conversion of property by malversation. A type of detention is being chosen.

Investigative actions are underway to prosecute other people involved in the unlawful activities.

The operation was carried out by officers of the SBU Main Office in Kyiv and Kyiv region under the supervision of Sviatoshynskyi District Prosecutor's Office.
