The SBU suspects a director of a medical institution in Cherkasy city of inflicting multi-million losses to the city budget.

Allegedly, the management of the medical institution concluded an agreement with a Kyiv company for almost UAH 15 m. (USD 535,700) to purchase expensive diagnostic equipment. During the checking, law enforcement officers established that businessmen deliberately overestimated the cost of medical equipment during the public procurement. Thus, the businessmen managed to misappropriate over UAH 3 m. (USD 107,100).

For the official neglect, which led to large state losses, the head of the medical institution received a notice of suspicion. The issue of choosing a type of detention and removing him from office is being settled.

The operation was conducted jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Cherkasy Local Prosecutor's Office.
