SSU exposes two ruscist supporters in Kharkiv and Prykarpattia oblasts: one about to flee to russia

The SSU detained another two pro-kremlin online agitators. They were active in Kharkiv and Ivano-Frankivsk, publicly justifying russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, glorifying russian occupiers and praising the former soviet union.

To spread destructive content, both suspects created anonymous accounts on the banned social network Odnoklassniki. There, they published anti-Ukrainian posts and reposted publications or videos by russian propagandists.

In Prykarpattia region:

The SSU cyber units apprehended an enemy agitator who promoted militants of the russian private military company Wagner and spread fake ‘news from the frontline’.

He also tried to discredit Ukrainian servicemen fighting on the frontline in Donetsk region, especially the defenders of Avdiivka.

According to the investigation, the suspect is a native of Dubenky village, a former employee of the penitentiary service.

During the searches of his apartment, the investigators found a mobile phone and computer equipment that the man used to spread enemy propaganda.

Based on the evidence, the SSU notified the individual of suspicion under 436-2.2, 436-2.3 of the CCU (justification, recognition as legitimate, denial of russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).

In Kharkiv:

The SSU apprehended a ruscist supporter who praised the kremlin’s aggressive policy, was ‘nostalgic’ for the soviet union and hoped the eastern region of Ukraine would soon be captured.

Following the SSU’s earlier investigation, he had previously received a notice of suspicion. The suspect began to hide from prosecution and tried to flee to russia.

However, the SSU tracked him down and detained him. The court chose custody as a measure of restraint.

Investigations are ongoing in both cases. The offenders are facing up to 8 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The SSU Offices in Kharkiv and Ivano-Frankivsk regions carried out the operations under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
