SSU exposes former communist party member in Lviv region who said Ukraine must cease to exist
In Lviv, the SSU cyber units have exposed another supporter of ruscism, who justified russia’s armed aggression and temporary occupation of part of Ukraine’s territory.
The offender is a former secretary of the regional committee of the banned communist party of Ukraine.
In 2014, he even ran for the Verkhovna Rada.
After an unsuccessful attempt to become a member of parliament, the ‘politician’ was not active for a long time.
However, after russia launched its full-scale invasion, he began to publicly support this armed aggression.
The ‘activist’ spread enemy propaganda through his page on the banned social network Odnoklassniki.
To conceal his activities, the communist created several fake accounts and used them to conduct subversive activities for the benefit of the aggressor state.
In his posts, the ruscist praised the kremlin leader’s aggressive policy, expressed nostalgia for the former USSR and justified the seizure of part of Ukraine’s southern regions.
Based on the collected evidence, SSU investigators served the offender a notice of suspicion under five Articles of the CCU:
- 110.2 (encroachment on Ukraine’s territorial integrity and inviolability);
- 161.1 (violation of equality of citizens based on their race, nationality, religious beliefs, disability and other grounds);
- 436 (propaganda of war);
- 436-1.2 (repeated dissemination of communist and nazi symbols, propaganda of communist and national socialist (nazi) totalitarian regimes);
- 436-2.3 (justification, recognition as legitimate, denial of russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).
The case file has been sent to court. The suspect is facing up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The investigation was carried out by the SSU Office in Lviv region under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
