The SBU has exposed another corruption scheme in JSC Ukrzaliznytsia. The head of the regional branch received kickbacks from businessmen.
He guaranteed winning in public tenders for the supply of components to rolling stocks.

For this, the offenders artificially inflated the cost of the goods. The official extorted 5-10% of the total contract’s value.

Businessmen had to transfer money to an intermediary who then sent it to the bank card of the official’s close relative.

SBU officers documented taking of the bribe after concluding UAH 1 million agreement (USD 36,500) for the supply of components.

The organizer and the intermediary received suspicion notices. A type of detention is being chosen.

The SBU is conducting searches of the offenders’ residences and offices in Kyiv and Lviv cities within the initiated criminal proceedings for taking a bribe; giving a bribe.

The operation was carried out by the SBU Office in Lviv region jointly with the National Police officers, the SBU Department for CI Protection of State Economic Interests, under the supervision of Lviv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
