SSU detains drug dealer attempting to bribe SSU officer
In Mariupol, the SSU Main Department of Internal Security prevented an attempt to set up a large-scale drug trafficking and detained the organizer.
The perpetrator offered an SSU officer a 20% kickback for covering up the illegal business.
SSU established that a resident of Mariupol and his accomplices organized production of amphetamine in the rented premises. The man planned to sell drugs through familiar drug dealers.
To protect himself from competitors, he contacted the SSU employee asking to facilitate drug trafficking. However, the officer immediately informed the management about such proposal.
During the special operation, law enforcement officers documented two cases of sale 250 grams of amphetamine worth UAH 75,000 (USD 2,800).
The drug dealer was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine while giving the SSU officer part of the bribe.
During the searches of the offenders’ drug lab, residences, SSU operatives seized:
- almost 30 grams of amphetamine;
- equipment for the manufacture of psychotropic drugs;
- more than 3 kilograms of cannabis;
- over UAH 50,000 (USD 1,865) in cash.
The issue of serving the organizer a suspicion notice of drug dealing and giving a bribe is being settled.
The pre-trial investigation is underway.
The operation was conducted by the SSU Main Office in Donetsk and Luhansk regions jointly with the National Police investigators, the SSU Main Department of Internal Security, under the supervision of Mariupol Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Military and Defense spheres.
