In Zaporizzhia city, the SBU exposed an organized group on an attempt to set up a fake "City Council" to destabilize the socio-political situation in the region.

Allegedly, members of the group tried to create a fake authority of local self-government on the territory of the regional center. To legitimize their plans, they elected so-called "heads" and "deputies" of the self-proclaimed formation.

For joining the fake body, the suspects offered money to candidates and promised to issue "corresponding official IDs".

During the searches of the organizers and active group members’ premises, the SBU officers seized documents, seals, stamps, computer equipment and other items proving the illegal activities.

Within previously initiated criminal proceedings, the investigation is ongoing to bring all the suspects to justice.

The operation was conducted jointly with the Main Department of the National Police in Zaporizzhia region under the supervision of Zaporizzhia Region Prosecutor's Office.
