In the city of Kyiv, the SBU documented and blocked the criminal activities of a State Tax Service official who provided assistance to the DNR terrorist organization.

SBU operatives established that the lieutenant colonel of the SFS special tax police illegally and continuously copied the information processed in the automated systems.

The offender provided to the curators:

• personal data of law enforcement and intelligence officers of Ukraine;
• information on the purchases made by state institutions, the progress of the state defense order implementation;
• other strategically important information.

Law enforcement officers detained the taxman at his residence after sending a secret document. The detention took place in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

The offender received the suspicion notice of creation of a terrorist group or terrorist organization; unauthorized actions with information that is processed in computers, automated systems, computer networks or stored on the information-carrying medium, committed by a person entitled to access to such information; disclosure of state secrets.

The law enforcement conducted searches of the offender’s residence, office and probable places where he could store evidence of illegal activity. During the investigation, the SBU seized technical devices and documents that unequivocally prove the illegal activity.

The law enforcement filed a motion to the court to choose custody as a type of detention.

The incriminated articles provide for up to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out jointly with investigators of the State Bureau of Investigation and employees of the SFS Main Department of Internal Security under the supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
