SSU exposes official of State Service on Food Safety and Consumer Protection on corruption: he extorted 10% kickback
In Lviv region, the SSU exposed a head of the local office of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection on corruption. The official extorted a 10% kickback from businessmen.
The investigators documented that the offender threatened to create barriers for a local entrepreneur and extorted a bribe in return for signing documents. For illegal benefit of 10% from the contract amount, the official ‘guaranteed’ unhindered business activity.
The offender was detained red-handed while receiving a bribe.
The detainee is to be notified of suspicion. The investigation into bribery is ongoing. The SSU is verifying involvement of other officials in corruption scheme.
The SSU carried out the operation together with the SBI investigators under the supervision of Lviv Region Prosecutor’s Office.
