Lviv region: SBU reveals officials of Lviv Locomotive Repair Plant on misappropriation
SBU exposed in Lviv region the management of PJSC Lviv Locomotive Repair Plant, which is a part of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia, on misappropriation of the company's property.
Allegedly, the officials set up a scheme to misappropriate non-ferrous and ferrous metal scrap left after production. The offenders did not include the information into the accounting records. According to the forged legal and financial records, they allegedly returned scrap metal to the companies. Earlier, these companies have carried out maintenance support of machinery, and rolling stock at the plant.
In fact, non-ferrous and ferrous metal scrap was delivered for sale to private companies affiliated with the plant's management. Reportedly, the offenders misappropriated over 22 tons of metal worth almost UAH 1 million (USD 35,715). The SBU investigators found another 891 tons of unaccounted scrap, which was additionally included to company’s balance sheet.
During the searches at offenders’ offices and residences, law enforcement officers seized financial and business documents, and other materials proving the illegal activities.
As a result, former and current managers of the company received a suspicion notice for possession or misappropriation of property, and malversation, committing a crime by a group of persons, a group of persons by prior conspiracy, organized by a group or a criminal organization, and official forgery.
The operation was carried out by SBU Office in Lviv region jointly with the State National Security Service in Lviv region under the procedural guidance of the Regional Prosecutor's Office.
