SSU exposes embezzlement from funds of Donbas Battalion Charitable Foundation

The SSU uncovered illegal activity of a citizen of Ukraine suspected of embezzling funds from the accounts of ‘Donbas’ Battalion Charitable Foundation.

Pre-trial investigation identified that the woman, having access to the Foundation’s card account, carried out transactions and withdrew cash. She spent the money on her own needs, not related to the foundation or the battalion.

The investigators documented the fact of embezzlement of over UAH 150,000 (USD 5,718) by the suspect from the funds donated by Ukrainians for support and development of the volunteer battalion.

The woman has been notified of suspicion of theft. Pre-trial investigation is on-going.

The SSU Office in Kyiv and Kyiv region carried out the operation under the supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

Under 62 Article of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until proven guilty and until the relevant court’s verdict.
