The SBU blocked misappropriation of budget funds allocated for the repair of highways in Cherkasy region. The scheme caused state losses amounting to almost UAH 2 m. (USD 74,100).

Allegedly, a director of a local construction company organized illegal business. In 2019, he signed several agreements with the state-owned enterprise to repair roads in Zvenyhorodskyi district.

The SBU established that the offenders embezzled part of allocated budget funds. They entered in the accounting documents inaccurate information about the amount of construction materials used and work performed.

Currently, the director received a suspicion notice of misappropriation, embezzlement or conversion of property by malversation; forgery in office. A type of detention is being chosen.

Investigative actions are underway. Involvement of other people in the illegal scheme, including officials of the state enterprise, is being checked.

The operation was carried out by SBU Office in Cherkasy region under the supervision of Zvenyhorodskyi District Prosecutor's Office.
