The SBU exposed officials of the Cherkasy Regional State Administration on embezzlement of budget funds allocated for the reconstruction of medical care facilities.

According to preliminary estimates, the corruption scheme caused over UAH 750,000 (USD 27,000) state losses.

It was established that the offenders involved representatives of an affiliated building company in the scam. In 2020, the officials signed two contracts for the reconstruction of a hospital emergency room.

The contractors failed to perform works in accordance with the contracts. Part of the allocated money was conversed into non-observed sector of economy. The offenders entered false data into official documents.

According to SBU findings, two officials received suspicion papers for abuse of authority and forgery in office.

The investigation is ongoing to prosecute all involved individuals.

The operation was carried out by the SBU Office in Cherkasy region jointly with the investigators of the National Police under the supervision of the Cherkasy region Prosecutor`s Office and Cherkasy Regional State Administration.
