In Odessa region, the SSU detained the organizer of a fraud scheme of ‘evading’ criminal responsibility. The fraudster offered assistance to a former prosecutor in closing criminal proceedings against him.

She promised to ‘deal with it’ for USD 40,000, stating that she presumably had connections to senior management of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office.

As part of the operation, the SSU documented the hand-over of an advance payment to the swindler.

The organizer of the fraud was detained after she received the rest of the money.

The investigators will notify the detainee of suspicion; the court is to decide on the measure of restraint.

The investigation is ongoing to establish all circumstances of the offence and bring to justice all those involved.

The SSU Office in Odesa region carried out the operation under the supervision of Odesa Region Prosecutor’s Office.
