SSU shuts down another 3 draft evasion schemes: former insurance agent selling fake ‘medical certificates’ detained

In Odesa, Cherkasy and Lviv oblasts, the SSU blocked another three schemes used by persons liable for military service to evade mobilization and illegally leave Ukraine.

The perpetrators sold fictitious documents to men of call-up age for crossing the border posing as ‘seriously ill’ or as ‘foreign aid carriers’.

The cost of ‘services’ reached USD 10,000, depending on the urgency of the ‘departure’.

In Cherkasy:

a 40-year-old former insurance agent was apprehended ‘red-handed’ for offering his ‘clients’ fake documents on unfitness for military service for health reasons.

The individual in question had previously been convicted of bribery. He is now facing a prison term.

In Odesa:

The law enforcement detained three suspects who offered potential conscripts to evade mobilization using counterfeit medical certificates on their ‘poor health’.

The evaders did not have to undergo a military medical commission, and received by mail a ready-made package of documents, which would ‘write them off’ from military service.

In Lviv region:

A 25-year-old resident of Truskavets was detained for promising to help potential recruits go abroad as pseudo-volunteers.

The investigations are ongoing. The suspects are facing up to 9 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The operations were carried out jointly with the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
