SBU exposes illegal registration of foreign students in medical universities

The SBU stopped illegal registration of foreign students in public and private Ukrainian medical universities.

SBU operatives established that the organizer was a foreign citizen permanently residing in Ukraine. He conspired with employees of state university providing support to foreign students. For money, the offenders helped to enter the universities in different Ukrainian regions. They registered people without proper documents and passing of exams.

The offender received funds via controlled commercial entities. The "fee" reached USD 3,000 for an academic year.

Within the criminal proceedings, law enforcement officers conducted searches of the state-owned enterprise offices, as well as of private companies controlled by the offender.

During the investigation, the SBU seized documents proving the illegal activity, as well as cash in foreign currency totaling USD 214,000.

Investigative actions are underway.

The operation was carried out by the Main Directorate for Counterintelligence Protection of the State's Economic Interests under the supervision of the Kyiv Local Prosecutor's Office No. 9.
