SBU detects scheme of supplying domestic military goods to Russia
The Security Service of Ukraine exposed a number private of companies’ officials who organized the scheme of illegal supply of military and dual-use goods produced by state defense enterprises to the enemy.
SBU exposed and blocked the illegal supply mechanism last March.
In July, the SBU conducted a series of searches at some defense enterprises in Kharkiv, Kyiv, Zaporizzhia, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, and Poltava regions. During the investigation, the leaders of the state defense enterprises assisted in providing information on the procurement of military and dual-use goods by private companies.
Due to additional information obtained, SBU operatives and investigators established that certain private entrepreneurs purchased products of state defense enterprises for further illegal deliveries to Russia and other countries. The purchase of military products possibly was carried out with the assistance of employees of state defense enterprises in violation of Ukrainian law.
Also, the group members transferred some technologies for the production of Ukrainian military products to the enemy.
Allegedly, the organizer is the deputy director of one of the powerful Russian enterprises. He provides military products to units of the Russian army and enterprises of the military-industrial complex. He has strong ties with current and former FSB officers.
The organizer and three other perpetrators, who are the officials of private suppliers, have now received notices of suspicion of attempted smuggling and violation of the procedure for international transfers of goods subject to state export control, which are committed as part of an organized criminal group.
The issue of involvement of other members of an organized criminal group, including under Art. 333 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is being established.
The operation was conducted jointly with the Main Directorate for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime of the Security Service of Ukraine under the leadership of the Prosecutor's Office of Kharkiv region and in close cooperation with the security services of state defense enterprises, which facilitated the investigation.
