The SBU Military CI exposed a large-scale illegal scheme of procurement of low-quality food for the State Border Guard Service. According to experts, some goods failed to meet the sanitary requirements. The state losses are estimated at UAH 800,000 (USD 29,000). The low-quality food is seized.

It is established that the scam was organized by a CEO of a company from Poltava region. The offender created a range of bogus firms used for supplying of low-quality food for the military. The received money was converted into non-observed sector of economy.

During searches, the SBU seized:

• a large scale amount of products of unknown origin ready for supplying to the military
• labels, packaging, seals and documents proving the illegal activity

The SBU served the offender a notice of suspicion of embezzlement.

The investigation is ongoing to prosecute all involved individuals.

The operation was carried out by the SBU Military CI Department under the supervision of Solomianskyi District Prosecutor’s Office in Kyiv.
