SSU exposes Ukrzaliznytsia employee who worked for FSB and adjusted missile strikes on Kyiv

The SSU has exposed a russian agent in the ranks of the state joint-stock company Ukrzaliznytsia [Ukrainian Railways].

The traitor is an official of the Southwestern Railway regional branch, who was recruited by the russian FSB after the start of full-scale invasion.

The invaders promised their accomplice a leadership position in an occupation administration, in case they capture the region.

The agent was in constant contact with an officer of the FSB, who coordinated his sabotage and reconnaissance activities against Ukraine.

The aggressor was primarily interested in intelligence on time and routes of movement of military echelons with weapons and ammunition for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The enemy informant also tried to pass coordinates of Kyiv energy generating facilities to occupiers.

Ruscists planned to use the intelligence to prepare and launch a series of targeted missile strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure.

However, the SSU acted pre-emptively: the russian agent was timely exposed and detained in Chernihiv, his actions – documented.

During the searches, the SSU found smartphones with evidence of the suspect’s covert communication with a representative of the russian special service.

SSU investigators have notified the detainee of suspicion of high treason committed under martial law (Article 111.2 of the CCU).

Court is to decide on custody as a measure of restraint.

The investigation is ongoing to bring to justice all organizers and members of the russian intelligence network.

The offender is facing up to 15 years in prison or life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was carried out by the SSU Main Directorate of Internal Security, the SSU Main Directorate for Counterintelligence Protection of Critical Infrastructure and Countering Terrorism Financing and the SSU Main Investigation Department under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
