SSU exposes attempts of russian special services to spy in Ukraine posing as foreign mass media
The SSU Cyber Department has recorded numerous attempts of russian intelligence agencies to collect information in Ukraine under the guise of foreign media outlets.
To obtain classified information, the enemy is using specialized Internet platforms and professional online forums of Ukrainian journalists.
On these resources, occupiers post information requests supposedly ‘from employees of well-known foreign mass media’.
They appeal to media professionals and specialized groups to provide them with materials allegedly for preparation of ‘stories’ or ‘documentaries’ on the war in Ukraine.
Primarily, the enemy is interested in information on impact of russian missile strikes on Ukrainian cities, including sites of hits and their consequences.
In case of providing relevant media files or text messages, the authors of the ‘ads’ promise a ‘fee’.
The aggressor requires this information to adjust air attacks on Ukrainian targets.
The SSU is warning about such enemy reconnaissance and sabotage activities and is acting to bring the involved to justice.
Please, remain vigilant and immediately report to the law enforcement about any suspicious ‘requests’ from unidentified individuals.
The activities to expose and neutralize the threats of sabotage activities of russian intelligence were carried out by the SSU Lviv Office.
