SSU exposes Chernihiv region military medical commission head who helped draft dodgers evade mobilization
The SSU has detained the current head of Chernihiv Region Military Medical Commission for corruption.
For bribes, he de-registered potential conscripts.
The official was a participant in a criminal scheme organized by the former head of this regional military medical commission, whose crimes the SSU documented in February this year.
Their accomplice, an official of the medical commission of Chernihiv military enlistment office has also been uncovered.
The group organized the issuance of false medical reports with ‘severe diagnoses’ for the recruits.
These papers were then sent to the military commissariat with an ‘unfit for service’ note.
This allowed the draft dodgers to be removed from the military register and go abroad.
The participants of the criminal scheme received up to USD 5,000 from each ‘client’.
Based on the evidence, two officials involved have been notified of suspicion under two Articles of the CCU:
- 114-1.1 (obstructing the lawful activities of the AFU and other military formations);
- 332.3 (illegal transfer of persons across Ukraine’s state border).
The actions of the head of the military medical commission are additionally qualified under Article 368.3 of the CCU (acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an unlawful benefit by an official). He is in custody.
The suspects face up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
The SSU also arrested the property of the detained former head of the regional MMC, which includes almost USD 1 million, 4 apartments in Kyiv, Chernivtsi and Chernihiv with a total area of over 400 square metres, land plots in Chernihiv region with a total area of about 4 hectares.
The investigation was carried out by the SSU Chernihiv Office under the procedural supervision of Chernihiv Specialized Defence Prosecutor’s Office.
