Kropyvnytskyi: SSU exposes dealer on attempt to smuggle Mi-8 helicopter components from Ukraine

In Kirovohrad region, the SSU Counterintelligence dismantled a scheme of smuggling dual-use goods from Ukraine.

The smuggled items included auxiliary gas turbine engines and navigation equipment for multi-purpose Mi-8 helicopters.

The person who tried to sell the equipment is a former official of Kropyvnytskyi Detention Center. To find potential buyers, he posted ads online.

The suspect planned to use international cargo shipping services to transport the goods to foreign customers. To conceal the components, he entered false information in the declarations.

The SSU exposed the scheme, documented it, and prevented the unlawful export of aircraft components and software abroad.

Based on the collected evidence, the individual was served a notice of suspicion under Article 333.1 of the CCU (violation of the procedure for international transfer of goods subject to state export control).

The investigation is ongoing.

The seized equipment will be handed over to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The SSU Office in Krivohrad region carried out the operation under the procedural supervision of regional Prosecutor’s Office.
