SSU exposes former communist MP in Kyiv: before invasion he signed appeal to putin asking to recognize ‘L/DNR’

The SSU has collected evidence against a former member of Ukrainian Parliament from the banned communist party, who supported russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine.

On the eve of russia’s full-scale invasion, he was one of the organizers of the appeal of the so-called ‘international union of soviet officers’ to the president of the aggressor state.

In this ‘letter’, its signatories asked the kremlin leader to recognize the ‘sovereignty’ of the temporarily occupied districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

During 2017-2019, the former MP also actively participated in mass anti-Ukrainian events in moscow and campaigned for ‘accession’ of the occupied part of eastern Ukraine to russia. He also advocated for official deployment of russian troops to Ukraine.

After 24 February 2022, the communist expected ruscists’ blitzkrieg and an imminent occupation of Kyiv, which he repeatedly talked about in his circle.

He also incited his acquaintances to help russian occupiers if Kyiv region is captured.

During the searches at the suspect’s home, the SSU found banned communist literature and pro-kremlin publications.

The traitor has been served a notice of suspicion under Article 110.1 of the CCU (encroachment on Ukraine’s territorial integrity and inviolability).

Court is to decide on custody as a measure of restraint. The former parliamentarian is facing imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The investigation was carried out under the procedural supervision of Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
