SSU exposes extortion by high-ranking official of Kyiv City State Administration
The SSU exposed a department head of the Kyiv City State Administration on corruption. The newly appointed official extorted money from small and medium enterprises. In case of refusing to pay bribes, he threatened inspections.
A bribe amounted to USD 2,000 from an entrepreneur.
According to preliminary data of the investigation, the official took bribes from representatives of trading and catering companies in exchange for their unhindered business activities.
Law enforcement officers detained an offender near a Kyiv market while accepting a bribe. The official promised a businessman not to conduct an "additional" inspection of his commercial building for illegal gratuity.
The issue of serving a suspicion notice and choosing a type of detention is currently being resolved.
The investigation into bribery is continuing to establish all circumstances and prosecute involved individuals.
The operation was carried out by officers of the SSU Main Office in Kyiv and Kyiv region under the supervision of the Shevchenkivskyi District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv.
