SSU exposes Zakarpattia businessman helping russia produce warship radar stations during war
In Zakarpattia region, the SSU has exposed a local businessman who helped the aggressor to produce high-tech equipment for warships.
The suspected entrepreneur from Zakarpattia supplied refractory raw materials needed for steelmaking and further use of the steel in the production of radar systems for russian navy vessels.
To operate the scheme, he moved to a European country, from where he transported the raw materials supposedly for customers from the Middle East.
However, the suspect actually transported the purchased products through belarus to his customers in russia. For wholesale consignments, the dealer used trucks of his transport company in the EU.
The offender delivered several consignments of raw materials worth UAH 12 mln (USD 317,000) to russia.
His main customer was one of the largest ferrous metallurgy enterprises in russia, steel producer Nizhnolipetsk Steel Plant.
Later, the russians sent this alloy to the sanctioned russian company Izumrud, which manufactures radar equipment for the aggressor’s warships.
The SSU has also documented supplies to the temporarily occupied Crimea.
To disguise the scheme, the businessman entered false information into international consignment notes regarding transportation routes and customers.
During the searches of the suspect’s office in Zakarpattia region, the SSU found financial and economic documents with evidence of the offence.
SSU investigators served the company director a notice of suspicion under Article 111-1.4 of the CCU (conducting economic activity in cooperation with the aggressor state, including the aggressor state’s occupation administration).
The suspect is hiding from prosecution abroad. Efforts are underway to bring him to justice.
The SSU Office in Zakarpattia region carried out the investigation under the procedural supervision of the regional Prosecutor’s Office.
