The SBU detained individuals who offered bribes to SBU officers for legalizing of foreigners in Ukraine. In both cases, the SBU officers refused to take bribes.

In Zhytomyr region, a foreign citizen contacted an SBU officer and proposed him to organize a criminal scheme.

The offender promised the officer to give regular bribes for unimpeded issuance of residence permits in the Department of State Migration Service in Zhytomyr region. The individual offered USD 200 for each legalized migrant.

The SBU officer reported the incident to the SBU Internal Security Department. The offender was detained red-handed during the transfer of USD 1,000.

The operation was carried out by the SBU Internal Security Department under the supervision of Zhytomyr Region Prosecutor's Office.

In Odesa region, a Ukrainian citizen offered a bribe to the SBU officer for assistance in acquisition of Ukrainian citizenship by foreigners. The offender asked the SBU officer to help to obtain a certificate needed for acquiring Ukrainian citizenship.

The SBU officer reported an attempted bribery to the SBU Internal Security Department. Thus, the law enforcement detained the offender while giving USD 1,800.

The operation was conducted by the SBU Internal Security Department jointly with investigators of the National Police Department in Odesa region under the supervision of Odesa Region Prosecutor's Office.
