SSU seizes oil products of Ukrnafta and Ukrtatnafta worth almost UAH 800 mln

The SSU and the ESBU continue to investigate corruption schemes of the former management of PJSC Ukrnafta and PJSC Ukrtatnafta.

During the searches at the logistics bases and warehouses of companies associated with the previous management, the law enforcement seized over 16,000 tons of oil products.

The total value of the products is almost UAH 800 mln (USD 20 mln).

In this way, the SSU blocked possible illegal sale of these oil products, which had been illegally withdrawn from Ukrnafta and Ukrtatnafta by the previous management of these entities.

The decision is pending regarding arrest of the seized fuel and lubricants and their further transfer to be used for the needs of the Defence Forces.

The SSU established that during 2022 representatives of Ukrtatnafta had shipped fuel to the addresses of affiliated companies without reflecting the transactions in their tax returns.

Subsequently, the controlled gas stations sold wholesale batches of petroleum products without paying the excise tax.

Earlier, the SSU together with the ESBU uncovered large-scale schemes of misappropriation of UAH 40 bln by former owners and top management of Ukrnafta and Ukrtatnafta.

The chief accountant and former director of Ukrtatnafta PJSC were served notices of suspicion over the facts and are currently in custody.

Investigative actions are ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the unlawful activity and bring the involved to justice.

The investigation was carried out by the SSU jointly with detectives of the Economic Security Bureau under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
