SSU blocks 3 mobilization evasion schemes in Ukraine’s border regions

The SSU has shut down another 3 schemes used by mobilization-aged men to evade the draft and illegally cross the border. Organizers were detained in several regions of Ukraine.

In return for USD 6,500 to 9,000, they helped draft dodgers to flee abroad bypassing the checkpoints. The cost of ‘services’ depended on the urgency and evasion method.

In Vinnytsia region:

an official of a local unit of the State Border Guard Service was detained. For money, he helped his ‘clients’ illegally enter the neighboring country outside checkpoints. A crypto wallet was used for receiving payments.

In Zakarpattia region:

another two channels of illegal migration to the EU have been dismantled. One of them was organized by two locals, who smuggled draft evaders to the EU across the border river.

A specially purchased inflatable boat was used for transporting the men.

Another scheme was set up by a woman from Khust district. Involving two accomplices in the ‘business’, she led potential recruits through little-known paths.

The investigations are ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crimes and bring the involved to justice.

The detained organizers face up to 9 years in prison with confiscation of property.

The operations were carried out jointly with the National Police and the State Border Guard Service under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
