Chernihiv region: SSU cracks down on fake PCR-tests and COVID-certificates scheme
SSU cracked down on PCR-tests and international COVID vaccination certificates fraud in Chernihiv region. The monthly offenders’ profit amounted to UAH 400,000 (USD 15,000).
According to the SSU findings, the scam was organized by two local citizens in June 2021.
They proposed forged certificates of negative test result to the clients of a tourist agency in the city of Chernihiv travelling abroad without passing any medical tests.
The price for a test certificate was UAH 400-500 (USD 15-18), a vaccination certificate cost UAH 1500 (USD 56). The offenders produced 350 tests and 150 vaccination certificates every month.
During searches of offenders’ residences, fake test and vaccination certificates were exposed.
The investigation is still on-going to identify and bring to justice all the individuals involved.
The operation was conducted by the SSU Office in Chernihiv region under the coordination of the Main Department of CI Protection of the State’s Interests in the Field of Economic Security jointly with the National Police.
