SBU blocks two channels of illegal migration to Ukraine
In Luhansk and Zakarpattia regions, the SBU blocked two channels of illegal migration to Ukraine. Among the foreigners were people from countries with a high terrorist threat.
In Luhansk region:
The activity of an interregional group that organized legalization of foreign citizens in Ukraine was exposed. Dealers set up an underground workshop for the serial production of forged documents.
Allegedly, the group included several Ukrainian citizens. The offenders organized a scheme of legalization of people from the Middle East. They produced forged documents, which foreigners used for entering to Ukrainian universities.
The offenders searched for their clients via personal connections and specialized Internet forums. They received payment for “services” in cash or on bank card accounts.
During the searches of the group organizer’s residence in city of Severodonetsk and underground workshop in city of Kharkiv, law enforcement officers found:
- equipment for making false documents;
- a large number of forged passports;
- 90 seals and stamps of bogus companies;
- bank cards;
- cash, presumably illegally obtained.
The involvement of the foreigners in the activities of international terrorist organizations is currently being investigated.
The investigation is ongoing in order to bring to justice all those involved in the illegal scheme.
In Zakarpattia region:
The SBU blocked the channel of illegal migration of foreigners across the state border of Ukraine to the European Union. The law enforcement detained the organizer of the “traffic” in an attempt to smuggle three illegal immigrants from Central Asia.
Allegedly, a citizen of a South Caucasian country organized the scheme. The offender promised his clients ensure crossing of the state border of Ukraine outside the established checkpoints.
The issue of serving the offender a notice of suspicion of illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine is being decided. A type of detention is chosen.
The investigation is ongoing in order to establish all the circumstances of the offense.
