SBU blocks large-scale smuggling of goods to DNR

In Dnipropetrovsk region, the SBU blocked an illegal supply of goods to
the so-called DNR. The income was more than USD 20 m.

Two residents of Donetsk region organized export of Ukrainian products and medicines of well-known foreign brands to a South Caucasus country via Russia.

However, while crossing Russian boarder, the offenders immediately changed the rout and illegally supplied goods to temporary occupied territory of Donetsk region.

They paid taxes and dues from the sale to finance gang affiliations and occupation authorities.

Allegedly, goods were delivered to shell companies. To shield their illegal business, the offenders involved a legal entity in real sector into crime.

In Donetsk, the SBU detained one of the organizers red-handed while discussing the further illegal supply of goods to the so-called DNR.

During the searches, the law enforcement seized:

  • computers and mobile phones;
  • accounting documents of companies involved in illegal scheme.

The SBU served the offender a suspicion notice of providing material support to terrorists. The type of detention is being chosen.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of Dnipropetrovsk Region Prosecutor`s Office.
