SSU blocks forging of COVID-19 International Vaccination Certificates
The resident of Ivano-Frankivsk region jointly with the resident of the neighboring region organized the deal. They rented the premises in the office of a travel agency.
Allegedly, the perpetrators created copies of vaccination certificates forms on a computer, printed them, filled the certificates in and certified them with fake seals. They sent the forged certificates through postal operators, constantly changing the identificaion data.
The perpetrators started the illegal business in early 2021. The cost of one cetrificate was UAH 1,600 (USD 60) and the weekly profit was over UAH 30,000 (USD 1,120).
For authenticity, the forged certificates contained data that they were allegedly issued by private and public medical institutions of Kyiv, Volyn, Vinnytsia and Chernivtsi regions.
The perpetrators were looking for clients through the travel agency: they were not only residents of Ukraine, but also foreigners - citizens of Russia and the Republic of Moldova.
During the searches, law enforcement officers seized the draft records with the client base, forged certificates of negative PCR tests, fake laboratory results and international vaccination certificates.
Currently, the organizer received the suspicion notice of the forgery of documents, stamps, seals or letterheads, and sale or use of forged documents.
The operation was carried out jointly with the Main Department of the National Police in Ivano-Frankivsk region in coordination with the SSU Department of Counterintelligence Protection of the State’s Interests in the field of Economic Security, under the supervision of the Regional Prosecutor's Office.
