SSU blocks another four channels of draft evaders’ escape abroad
The SSU has exposed another four channels of illegal transportation of Ukrainian potential conscripts abroad. As a result of operations in Zakarpattia, Lviv and Sumy regions, 15 organizers of illegal ‘traffic’ were detained.
For different amounts of money, they promised their clients unimpeded crossing of the state border.
The ‘price’ ranged from USD 1,500 to 8,000 per person, depending on the region of residence.
Due to the SSU’s prompt response, criminal schemes were exposed and their participants detained.
Two channels of such illegal migration were shut down in Transcarpathia.
The first one was organized by a couple of local entrepreneurs. They offered draft evaders to go abroad ‘for health reasons’.
To do this, they provided their ‘clients’ with forged certificates of unfitness for military service. Such ‘certificates’ were issued through personal connections among doctors.
The second scheme was organized by a resident of Uzhgorod district. The offender registered his clients as drivers of minibuses delivering humanitarian aid, thus entering false information to the Shlyakh electronic database.
In Lviv region, the SSU detained a local businessman who promised potential conscripts to leave Ukraine posing as members of volunteer organization.
Another channel of illegal migration was dismantled in Sumy region. It was set up by an organized criminal group specializing in illegal transportation of Ukrainian and russian citizens to the territory of the aggressor state.
For money, they ‘offered’ anyone willing to leave for russia. They planned to use ‘bypass’ routes outside checkpoints.
Eight organizers of the described criminal schemes have been notified of suspicion under Article 332.3 of the CCU (organization of illegal transportation of persons across Ukraine’s state border, committed as part of an organized group).
Court is to decide on custody as a measure of restraint.
Additionally, seven ‘passengers’ were detained under administrative procedure during illegal border crossing.
Pre-trial investigations are ongoing.
The SSU Offices in Zakarpattia, Lviv and Sumy regions carried out the operations jointly with the National Police and the State Border Guard Service under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office.
