SSU disrupts scheme of selling fake COVID vaccination certificates in Kropyvnytskyi

In Kropyvnytskyi, the SSU disrupted illegal activity of medics who issued international COVID vaccination certificates without actually vaccinating patients.

The pre-trial investigation established that the scheme was set up by family doctors at one of the local city hospitals. The offenders had been operating for about 6 months, issuing 6-7 fake certificates per day.

The doctors charged UAH 2,500 (USD 92) for a fake certificate. Thus, their proceeds may have reached UAH 1 mln (USD 37,000).

The offenders entered information on vaccinations into the eHealth system. Then, data was uploaded to the Diia App, Ukrainian e-governance web-portal.

During the searches at the medical institution, the SSU officers found and seized international vaccination certificates and vaccination logs.

The SSU Office in Kirovohrad region carried out the operation with the National Police investigators under the supervision of Kropyvnytskyi District Prosecutor’s Office.
