The SBU prevented new attempts to destabilize the socio-political situation in the south-eastern regions of Ukraine.

The organizers called on citizens not to recognize the Ukrainian authorities.

In Melitopol, several local residents planned to establish fake self-government. They held the illegal constituent assembly and elected the so-called head.

The perpetrators promised supporters tax relief and judicial immunity in Ukraine.

During the searches, law enforcement officers seized:

• seals of the fake self-government;
• computer equipment and documents proving the illegal activity.

The seized items were sent for examination.

The investigative actions are underway to prosecute the organizers for unauthorized assuming of an office or official title.

The operation was conducted by the SBU Office in Zaporizzhya region jointly with the National Police investigators under the supervision of the Zaporizzhya Region Prosecutor's Office.
