SBU blocks import of forged excise stamps in Chernomorsk port

In Odesa region, the Security Service of Ukraine blocked the illegal import of 1.9 million excise stamps into Ukraine. The forged stamps were intended for illegally manufactured alcohol products. The cost of this number of real excise stamps amounts to dozens of millions of hryvnias.

The cargo arrived at the Chernomorsk Seaport by ferry from Turkey.

The SBU established that the suspects attempted to transport Ukrainian excise stamps from the port to Kyiv - to the address of an enterprise. During the search of the truck, the law enforcement officers found forged Ukrainian excise stamps hidden in rolls of foil. They were intended for illegally produced alcohol.

The relevant procedural actions are ongoing to document the offense.

The operation was carried out by the SBU Main Directorate for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime together with the SBU Office in Odesa region, as well as customs officers, the National Police Strategic Investigations Department and border guards.
