SSU completes investigation in Semenchenko case and forwards it to court

The SSU, under procedural guidance of the Prosecutor General’s Office, has completed a pre-trial investigation on suspicion of Semen Semenchenko and his accomplices. The indictment was sent to Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv.

The pre-trial investigation concluded that Semen Semenchenko and other organizers had created an illegal armed formation with a military-type organizational structure in Ukraine.

The IAF consisted mainly of ex-servicemen and ex-combatants. Members of the formation had drill practice, military and physical training. They were armed with firearms and explosives.

The pre-trial investigation also obtained evidence that Semen Semenchenko organized a terrorist attack in July 2019, which was shooting from a hand-held anti-tank grenade launcher into the building of the 112-Ukraine Information Agency LLC.

In total, 9 people were notified of suspicion and charged in this criminal proceeding.

At present, the pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceeding has been completed in line with the requirements of Article 290 of the CPC, indictments have been served to suspects and lawyers.

S. Semenchenko is suspected of committing criminal offences under Articles 27-3, 258-2, 28-3, 260-2, 260-3, 28-2, 263-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Ye. Shevchenko is suspected of committing criminal offences under Articles 28-2, 260-2, 260-2, 333-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
