SSU serves suspicion notice in absentia to chief designer of russian ZALA and Lancet drones
The SSU has collected evidence against Aleksandr Zakharov, the owner and chief designer of the russian company ZALA Aero Group, which develops unmanned systems for the war against Ukraine.
Today, this company, based in Izhevsk, is one of the largest manufacturers of combat drones for the russian army.
The UAVs produced by Zakharov’s company include Lancet drones, as well as the latest ZALA Z-16 and ZALA Z-20 reconnaissance drones.
Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the company has produced almost 5,000 UAVs.
The enemy usually uses Lancets as kamikaze drones for direct attacks on Ukrainian armoured vehicles, while ZALA drones search for potential targets, adjust fire on them, and record the impact of the strikes after the hits.
This equipment has become an integral part of russia’s military invasion of Ukraine.
Based on the evidence, the SSU notified Zakharov of suspicion under Article 27.5, 28.2, 437.2 of the CCU (aiding and abetting in the conduct of an aggressive war, committed by a group, upon prior conspiracy).
The suspect is in russia, efforts to bring him to justice for crimes against Ukraine are underway.
The investigation was carried out under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
